Fridtjof Nansen received the Nobel Peace Prize for his humanitarian efforts in 1922.

On May 12th 2011 the Nobel Peace Center opens the exhibition TRANSIT. The exhibition will tell stories of refugees and internally displaced people in different parts of the world. TRANSIT is also about Nansen and his efforts to help prisoners of war, victims of famine and refugees in the early years of the 20th century.

The exhibition will explore the similarities between the challenges Nansen encountered in his humanitarian work and today’s challenges in different areas of conflict around the world.
