Princess Märtha came to Oslo by train from Stockholm a couple of days before the wedding. She arrived at Østbanen station, and the wedding procession drove up Karl Johan street to the Royal Palace. The streets of Oslo were decorated for the wedding party, and along Karl Johan street were ice obelisks and many buildings and streets were decorated with flags and banners. The couple travelled around the city for three hours to look at the decorations and greet people in the streets.
