March 21 1929, Crown Prince Olav married his cousin Princess Märtha of Sweden in Oslo Domkirke. This was the first royal wedding in Norway after the dissolution of the union with Sweden. The alliance was much welcomed, also in Sweden, where it was seen as a sign that all disagreement after the dissolution in 1905 was settled.
