Preservation of Archives

Older archival material exists in paper form and as photographs, audiotapes or film. In recent years, a steadily increasing portion of archival material is created digitally, and we anticipate that virtually all archival material will be digital in the future. How does the National Archives of Norway preserve this type of archival material, and how is it described and made available to the public?

Electronic Archival material

Paper Materials

Under Paper Material, we explain how the archives are described and catalogued. We also explain how we go about storing the archives. By means of digitalisation, we make selected sources available to our online users.
