The address books for Kristiania/Oslo and Aker are in frequent use by the reading room guests of Oslo byarkiv, Statsarkivet i Oslo, Riksarkivet and Deichmanske bibliotek. The books are exposed to wear and tear through this heavy use. Oslo byarkiv initiated therefore that the institutions cooperated to digitise the address books and publish them online in the Digital Archives.

Pr. 24. April 2012, 26 volumes have been scanned and indexed. The project is set to be completed by the end of 2012.

Oslo byarkiv receives queries concerning the local/municipal censuses. The address books are based on the information from the local censuses of the preceding year. Persons found on a given address in vol. 1933, should therefore be searched for in the 1932 census.
