April 12, 2013: After a rather long Easter break, we are back on track! 40 various lists transcribed from church books are now published. We welcome two new guests in the Digital Inn: Nils Elsrud and Tirsdagsklubben (The Tuesday Club). In addition to contributions from these two, we have publised data received from Jostein Mediaa, Arvid Skogseth, Magne Polden, Kjersti Andersen, Erlend Eriksen Mæhlum, Slektsforum for Indre Nordmøre and our own Registration Unit in Stavanger. In addition, the Central Office of the National Archives has scanned more address books for Kristiania/Oslo and completed the series D IX Jordebøker (Rent Roll for Landed Property) from the archives of Stattholder (governor) . Earlier this week, they published documents related to Vidkun Quisling and the World War II . These documents have not been open to the public before.
The Regional State Archives of Hamar has scanned the oldest pupil records from Toftes Gave.

March 21, 2013: Jostein Mediaa and Arvid Skogseth are active guests in the Digital Inn. We have published church records they have transcribed for Vik in Fosen parish and Frosta parish, both in Nord-Trøndelag county. The Regional State Archives in Bergen transcribes church records as part of the project to transcribe the Norwegian population of 1814 , so they have sendt us files for Stjørdal parish (Nord-Trøndelag county) and Jostedal parish (Sogn og Fjordane county). March 19, 2013: Calculated year of birth in the transcribed parish records. In 908.926 person records calculated year of birth has been added. These records are transcribed parish records in the Digital Archives and the Digital Inn. The accuracy will be +/- 1 year from the age listed in the original source. Where the year has been estimated, the birth year will be marked with * or (calculated) after the year. By adding an estimated birth year, it will be easier to find persons that are only listed with age in the parish records.
March 8, 2013: The guests in the Digital Inn, Knut Røysland and Gjøvik og Toten slektshistorielag, have sent us data from the parish registers of Øvrebø in Vest-Agder county and Toten in Oppland county. The staff of the Regional State Archives in Bergen is also contributing with data from parish registers from the counties of Møre og Romsdal and Sogn og Fjordane, covering the years 1801-1814. January 23, 2013: We spend the 15th birthday of the Digital Archives publishing more data. Both new data and data tranferred from our old search site. There has also been some changes in the software . Quite a lot of data from the parish registers from all over Norway, covering the period 1801-1814, are now released. But you will aslo find parish register data more recent than this, transcribed by various persons in the Digital Inn . Torunn Cathrine Ludvigsen is a new guest in the Digital Inn. She has sent us the 1891 Census for Skjeberg in Østfold county. The registration unit in Voss is finished transcribing the entire 1885 Census, and we have published the data from Molde and Kristiansund in Møre og Romsdal county. The entire 1801 Census is updated with various amendments and published on this site. Parts of the old 1885 census data has been transferred as well, but this is an ongoing process, so the 1885 census is not completed online yet. Check the list Most Recent 100 for details on the new - never before published online - data.
New Years Eve 2012: The license for the old software of the Digital Archives is prolonged until summer 2013. This means that we have a bit more time to finish the rest of the functionality for the new internet site. According to the schedule, we will start transferring the rest of the data in February. We look forward to an eventful year and thank you all for your feedback. We would like to thank our patient and hard-working contributors in particular: guests in the Digital Inn, colleagues of the National Archives and other co-operators. Knut Røysland has sent us data from Øvrebø parish in Vest-Agder county, while the Regional State Archives of Bergen is transcribing from all over the country. Both Mr. Røysland and the State Archives are concentrating on parish records from the period 1801-1814. November 25, 2012: New parish records published in the Digital Archives. 56 lists from various parish registers are now published on this site. Jostein Mediaa in the Digital Inn is an eager and steady contributor and is responsible for a large part of this publication, but there are also transcribed data from the Registratio Unit of The Digital Archives located in Stavanger, the Regional State Archives in Bergen, Knut Røysland and DIS-Møre og Romsdal - dept. Molde. The contributions and links to the different search forms are available Recent 100 under News archive. 9. november 2012: Statsarkivet i Bergen has digitised three address books from Sjømannsmisjonen (the Norwegian Church Abroad) in Buenos Aires in Argentina for the period ca 1915-1930. The books are published online and available in the Book Shelf .
October 16, 2012: The new search pages for the Digital Archives have been updated with more functionality and a lot of data. In the menu above you will find new items: "Select source" points to a tool you can use to find available sources and search forms, and "Digital Inn" points to the list of contributors and their presentation rooms. A lot of new and old parish records have been published on this site. When you now use the search box above or the advanced search, you will search among close to ten millions person records. We would like to recommend you to read the search help , but unfortunately, the newly refreshed Norwegian text has not been translated yet. We will update the English version as soon as possible. More information on the new version of the system, will be added Wednesday.

September 14, 2012: The National Archives has scanned the bailiff's account books pre-1695 for all the districts in Norway.
August 31, 2012: The test area for the new Digital Archives, BetaDigitalarkivet, has been updated with significantly more functionality and data. Several areas from the 1801 Census has been published, but there is especially more parish records available online. Most of these records sent to the Digital Inn from October last year until April this year, is now published on BetaDigitalarkivet. You can search in all the data, just parish records, just a type of parish records or one particular parish protocol. The tool for finding sources, Select Source, can be used to find a spesific dataset to search, but you can also use the searchforms that you find link to to the right. July 5, 2012: The National Archives has scanned and published the Memorial material after July 22, 2011.
May 23, 2012 : The Regional State Archives in Stavanger has initiated the scanning and publishing of a selection records from the archives of the Norwegian oil and gas industry.
May 16, 2012 : The scanning and publishing of the bailiff's account books before 1695 are now started. The accounts for Østfold and Akershus county are published and more material for the rest of Norway will follow as soon as it is ready.
May 14, 2012 : A new version of the 1865 Census is now published. The census has undergone quite some structural changes and a lot of corrections of the transcription. With this publication, the search box as well as the advanced search will return results from both 1865 and 1910 censuses. Use the source-designed search form for each of the censuses to search solely in one of the censuses.
April 10, 2012: The lisence for the software for the old internet site of the Digital Archives has been extended to last to end of this year. As we can continue with the old internet site, we are working hard to establish the new software on our new internet site. The test server, BetaDigitalarkivet, has been updated with more records: the 1865 Census is now complete, and available records for the censuses from 1870, 1875, 1885 and 1891 are also online. In addition, new functionality has been added with Finn kilde (Find sources) and Digitalpensjonatet (The Digital Inn). These are not finished yet, but works so that you can test these out.
March 5, 2012: More print-ready files for the 1910 Census are now uploaded. Almost all of the municipalities in the 1910 national census are now available as booklets in pdf-format. They can be downloaded for free. The booklets contain the transcribed census data of houses and persons as well as indexes on given name, first name, address and birth place. There is unfortunately no English translation, everything is in Norwegian. The cities of Kristiania, Bergen, Stavanger and Trondheim are too large to be transferred into booklets. Instead, we will makes downloadable files for smaller areas of these cities upon requests.
December 22, 2011: This year's Christmas gift from the Digital Archives to the users, is a proloning of the old internet site and search system. The earlier announced transition to a new software and new internet sites for the Digital Archives has been postponed a few months. This way we will have more time to develop a solid solution for our users. There will also be time to run the new and old systems parallel for a short period. We wish you all a very merry Christmas!
November 28, 2011: Temporary stop in publishing data. During the first weeks of December the new search system for the Digital Archives will be ready for other types of data than just the 1910 census records. We will therefore stop the publishing of data in the old search system and instead get the data online in the new system as soon as everything is ready.
November 11, 2011: DIS-Østfold has registered lists from parish records of Skiptvet 1794-1814 and Skjeberg 1846-1858, as well as the stillbirths of Rygge 1878-1904, Østfold county. DIS-Oslo/Akershus-KROA and Oslo City Archives have sent us an extension of the municipal census of Kristiania (Oslo) from 1923.
November 8, 2011: The Registration Unit of the Digital Archives, located in Voss, has transcribed the 1885 census for Molde and Kristiansund in Møre og Romsdal county. Rune Bergesen has sent us transcribed parish records for Davik and Selje in Sogn og Fjordane county, they cover the periods 1761-1815 and 1782-1815. Buskerud slektshistorielag has registered confirmations in Lier parish in Buskerud county 1843-1854. GDS-Hadeland has sent a large collection of marriage records from the parish records of Gran in Oppland county. The databases cover the period 1707-1912. The registration is done as part of the cooperation between DIS-Norge and the National Arhives.
29. October 2011: The Central Office of the National Archives are publishing the digitised account books of the "stiftamtstue", county account office, starting with Landkommissariatet på Akershus 1661-1665.
October 21, 2011: We have now released a betaserver of the new Digital Archives:http://beta.digitalarkivet.no/ You are all welcome to try out the new functionality of the site as well as the data. The data is not new, it is the 1910 census as well as data from the old site of the Digital Archives. As soon as data is converted and new functions ready, they will be added to this beta server so that you can test it all. We highly appreciate feedback and we would be very happy if you could submit any messages regarding errors or improvements in our debate forum.
October 14, 2011: Jostein Mediaa has registered baptisms, confirmations, marriages and burials in Leka local parish in Kolvereid, Nord-Trøndelag county, covering the period 1843-1862. Kjersti Andersen has transcribed records from the church of Oslo Hospital: confirmations 1761-1816 and stillbirths 1804-1817. Karin Brekke Aske has sent us more records from the Evangelical Lutheran Free Church in Brunlanes from the period 1886-1930: joiners, confirmations and stillbirths. IKA Trøndelag iks has digitised two diaries of the teacher family Grøtte from Oppdal in Sør-Trøndelag county. Several generations of teachers wrote in these diaries. IKA Trøndelag has also digitised two school papers from Søndre Rugeldal/Glåmos school in Glåmos from 1944-1947. We have recieved proof read databases for baptisms in Hurum, Buskerurd county, 1715-1846. These databases are not new, they were earlier belonging to GDS-Buskerud, but the association is closed and now Hurum historielag is in charge of the data.
September 20, 2011: Arne Arvid Rasmussen has made an index to the records from 1812 in the Court Case Journal of Bergen Stiftsoverrett. The Regional State Archives of Bergen has digitised the protocol and we have published that online as well. Mette Værnes has registered the database of baptisms in Ytterøy parish 1756-1817 in cooperation with Ytterøy historienemnd. Erlend Eriksen Mæhlum has digitised and registered the lists of reported stillbirths in the parishes of Buksnes and Vågan covering the period 1831-1841.
September 22, 2011: Hurum Historielag has sent us a database of marriages in Hurum parish, Buskerud county, 1910-1924. Hedmark Slektshistorielag has delivered a database of baptisms in Brøttum local parish in Ringsaker, Hedmark county, 1891-1904. While Karin Brekke Aske has registered dissenters in Brunlanes parish, Vestfold county, more spesific the Evangelical Lutheran Free Church. The parish records covers 1886-1968, but due to restrictions, the registration only covers 1886-1930. The database of baptisms is additionally shortened to cover until 1916 due to privacy rules, while in the database of burials we have removed the medical registrations under cause of death after 1900.
September 6, 2011: Hedmark slektshistorielag has sent us a database of confirmations in Stange 1762-1787. While Atle Brandsar has registered baptisms in Lom parish 1749-1801. Jostein Mediaa has focused on Fosnes local parish in Fosnes parish 1910-1952 and sent us the lists for marriages, burials and confirmations. The latter could not be published further than to 1931 due to rules of privacy. Buskerud slektshistorielag is responsible for the registration of the census lists for Lier parish from the priests' census lists of 1663-1666.
Augst 29, 2011: Arnstein Slinning has made a database of probate records from Sunnmøre 1690-ca. 1886. The basis for the registration is an old card index to the probate records. Ski slektshistorielag has sent us a database of baptisms in Kråkstad local parish in Kråkstad parish 1893-1931, but due to privacy rules, we are only publishing the records until 1916. Hedmark Slektshistorielag has made a database of burials in Stange parish 1835-1845.
August 25, 2011: The Digital Archives Registration Unit in Voss has sent us the 1885 Census for Stavanger in Rogaland county, while the Registration Unit in Stavanger has sent us the 1875 Census for Evindvik in Sogn og Fjordane county. Buskerud slektshistorielag has registered burials in Bragernes parish 1782-1814.Torleif Odland has transcribed the rentroll of 1661 for Oddernes in Vest-Agder county. Jostein Mediaa has registered baptisms in Leinstrand local parish in Melhus parish 1862-1886 and 1902-1929, but due to rules of privacy, we are only publishing the baptisms to 1916. Rune Bergesen in Bergesen og Stensen has registered marriages in Sandviken church in Bergen for the period 1912-1954.
August 12, 2011: Erlend Eriksen Mæhlum has transcribed reported dead soldiers in the Holst brigade, participating in the war against Sweden 1808-1809. The death lists is covering the period April-October 1808.
Jostein Mediaa has registered baptsims in Ranheim local parish in Strinda parish 1905-1915.
While Rune Bergesen in Bergesen og Stensen has registered marriages in Domkirken (the Cathedral) in Bergen for the period 1912-1953.
August 9, 2011: Tom Larsen has sent us another index to prison albums. This time it is photographed prisoners from Christiania Police Station 1885-1899.
Arnstein Slinning has registered the 1825 Census of Ålesund in Møre og Romsdal county. He has also scanned the original census returns as well as made an edited version of the census database. In the edited version he has added information on persons from other sources. This edition is not available in the Database Selector, but can be found in his room in the Digital Inn or from the documentation of the 1825 census .

However we have not published the years after 1915 due to rules of privacy.Sidsel Pihl Haugen has registered several databases from the parish records of Larvik in Vestfold county 1814-1825. June 30, 2011: The Regional State Archives in Oslo has digitised the protocols from the Seaman Enrollment office in Oslo, 1819-1881.
The printed version of the 1910 census has been updated and republished on our site. We had to correct an error that omitted all the census districts with district numbers containing letters. In addition, the list of available files to print has been extended with the data registered from RHD/NHDC. Now the list of pdf-files from the 1910 census is complete.

These emigrants were missing from the two databases that we published approx. 10 years ago. Onsøy Historielag has registered the 1891 Census for 0134 Onsøy, Østfold county.

14.04.2011: DIS-Salten Slektshistorielag has sent us databases with baptisms, marriages, burials and introductions in Flakstad in Lofoten from 1792 to 1837. All of these are registered by Olav Hedne .
Røyken Historielag, Slekts- og gårdshistoriegruppa has registered marriages in Røyken 1783 - 1813.
Kyrkjebokprosjektet i DIS-Norge as sent us databases from Skjeberg in Østfold, Skjervøy in Troms and Våle in Vestfold. DIS-Østfold , DIS-Troms and DIS-Vestfold have taken part in the registration work.
The Regional State Archives in Bergen has digitised the Court journal from Bergen stiftsoverrett 1816 .

08.04.2011: The Regional State Archives in Bergen has digitised Bilboken for Norge (The Car Index for Norway) from 1922.
Arne Jarlind has extended his database of confirmations in Askøy local parish in Askøy, Hordaland county. It now covers the years 1903-1925. Tom Larsen has made a photo register of prisoners in Botsfengslet in Kristiania 1857-1913.
05.04.2011: Øivind Larsen is a new guest in the Digital Inn. He is working on a database of communicants in Eidsberg parish in Østfold county 1800-1821. He has completed the years until 1803 and this is published here.

01.04.2011: Ragnar Bull is a new guest in the Digital Inn. He has sent us a transcript of the rules for school organisation in Askvoll parish in Sogn og Fjordane county from 1743. He has also transcribed the diaries of David Olsson Bakke, they are accessible from his room at the Inn.

Version document only in Norwegian unfortunately, we will add translation as soon as possible. There are some new databases in the Digital Inn as well: Oddbjørn Strand-Angermann with confirmations in Sande local parish in Sande, Møre og Romsdal county 1884-1901. And Åsane Historielag with a database of soldiers from Nordhordland participating in Tyttebærkrigen (the War of Cowberry) 1788-89.

The digitisation unit of the Digital Archives, located in Voss, has now finished the 1885 Census for Sandnes, Skudeneshavn, Kopervik and Haugesund in Rogaland County. While the digitisation unit of the Digital Archives, located in Stavanger, has finished the 1875 census for Skånevik and extended the 1875 census for Sveio - now it is complete.
Arvid Skogseth has registered the 1875 census for 1245 Sund in Hordaland county.
Oppdal historielag has sent us a transcript of the probate protocol no. 4 for Oppdal in Orkdal judicial district covering the years 1737-1743.
