What is ADDML?

ADDML is a standard originally developed by the National Archives of Norway. Now it’s maintained in cooperation between the National Archives in Norway, Sweden and Finland.

The standard is used for describing details and structure for flat files exported from databases.

ADDML version 8.3

Version 8.3 was released in 2014, and is the latest version.

Version 8.3 has been modified as follows:

  • The element "reference" in the dataset are no longer mandatory
  • A header can have more than one line
  • "FieldDefinitionReferences" is unique within an instance
